Dazzle™ Dwarf Crapemyrtles … an
exciting new series bred by distinguished horticulturalist and
breeder, Dr. Michael A. Dirr. Bred for their compact habit, as
well as their ease-of-care and mildew resistance, these gems
add exceptional color to the summer garden. Crapemyrtles are
found all over the southern U.S. and are most known for their
ability to withstand high heat and humidity conditions. Most
existing Crapemyrtle varieties grow into very large shrubs or
even small to medium size trees. Dr. Dirr's breeding has created
plants with the colorful foliage and the tremendous flower power
of traditional Crapemyrtles, but refined them to a size that
will even fit into small spaces.
Gardeners in more northern areas are able to enjoy these
southern beauties as container plants. They make a beautiful summer
combination in a container mixed with grasses, annuals or perennials.
During the winter, the planter can be brought into the garage for
protection and then brought out again the next spring.
